PHANGNGA BAY – BAN SAM CHONG

PHANGNGA BAY

Pahng Nga bay the small fishing village of Ban Sam Chong is located on the shore of one of three mangrove canals. You can’t access the village by scooter or car, just by boat, allowing you to take in the quiet natural surrounding you. The fishing village houses are built on stilts and connected by long footbridges.
The mangrove canals and extensive ecosystem surrounding the village is the main source of livelihood for the local people. At low tide, villagers are able to harvest shells along the mangrove banks. They also lay fish traps that can be collected after one high tide cycle. Villagers also net fish from the shoreline.

Program

Day 1 – Cultural Exchange
Pick up at your hotel in Khaolak, meet you Andaman Discoveries Translator for a cultural and program briefing. Transfer to village
Take a walking tour of the community with your local guide to learn about the history and lives of these villagers
Lunch Enjoy authentic southern Thai food with your homestay family

Make Natural Tie Dye with the womans group and keep as souvenir

Visit the fish farm or oyster farm and then learn to peal the nypa palm leave, visit the shrimp paste factory in village

Share stories with your home stay family and learn to cooking Thai food with your host family

Day 2 – Natural Wonders
Wake up early and head out on a long tail boat for a spectacular Andaman Coast sunrise. Enjoy coffee tea and breakfast from the boat as you watch the red and orange hues of the sun rise over the limestone carsts and ocean
Continue your journey out to the Phang Nga bay the famous island and Panyi village (fisherman village), you will see the dramatic limestone islands, explore sea caves and relax with the breathtaking views
Return to your homestay for another delicious lunch Pack and say goodbye to your friendly hosts transfer back to Khaolak. End of program
